Listed below are a few strategies that are currently being used and will be expanded upon in order to reduce GHG's are: 1)Use of Central Plant 2)Installation of Renewable Energy Systems 3)Use of Demand Side Management Systems 4)New Energy Efficient Buildings built to LEED standards 5)Encourage the use of public transit 6)Water use reduction
The college is committed in providing green curriculum. Currently they include: 1)Energy and the environment, 2)What is Green 3)Sustainability. Programs under development include: 1)Building Energy Analyst and Modeling 2)Solar Hot Water Installation 3)Solar PV Installation
The college will continue to partner with key stakeholders to engage the campus community in energy and money saving activities. It will enable students to build awareness of the LACCD energy efficiency initiatives, encourage behavioral and operational changes to maximize new building efficiency, assist with energy-saving retrofits, and participate in hands-on projects to augment classroom study.
