Description President Schallenkamp created the Sustainability Committee to recommend strategies to advance BHSU's commitment to sustainability, promote sustainability efforts on campus, and educate the campus community on sustainability issues. The committee is under the leadership of the Vice President of Finance & Administration and includes faculty, staff, and students.

Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union is the first Gold certified Leed building on the BHSU campus. The Life Sciences Laboratories and the University Center - Rapid City are in the process of becoming certified at the Silver level.
