1. Establish a policy that all new campus construction will be built to at least the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Silver standard or equivalent. Yes: Our president, Paul Zingg, stated in Spring 2006 that, "an important choice we have made is to design all new and renovation projects to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. " This statement is currently being brought to action through the current construction of the Student Services Center, which is slated for LEED Gold certification, and the current LEED construction practices for the Wildcat Activities Center (WAC) and Whitney II. Currently, ground has been broken for the WAC project and designs are being drawn for Whitney II. |

2. Adopt an energy-efficient appliance purchasing policy requiring purchase of ENERGY STAR certified products in all areas for which such ratings exist. Yes: Since the president signed the ACUPCC agreement, internal instruction has been given to the procurement staff that appliance purchases must be ENERGY STAR rated. This mandate is for purchases that are made through the Procurement Office and is being considered for across campus implementation. |

Yes: This was the first year CSUC participated in the Waste Minimization category of RecycleMania. We had an average of 4.5 lbs of trash per person per week, ranking 4th out of 9 schools in CA and 19th out of 90 schools nationwide. We have a Zero Waste Task Force that is actively pursuing a Zero Waste policy for our campus. Last semester, the student government passed a resolution in support of a Zero Waste Policy. Last semester, a waste audit was performed on all dining facilities trash to determine potential for increased waste diversion. In 2007, our annual waste tonnage was down to about 1000 tons, compared to approximately 2000 tons in both 2006 and 2005. |
