General Statement of Progress

Bellevue College has made decisive steps on sustainability in the last few years. The students and campus Environmental Advisory Committee laid the groundwork by developing a climate action plan, setting up communications tools and engaging with campus operations staff. The hiring of Sustainability and Resource Conservation Manager in 2010 a partnership of the students and the College and a faculty Sustainability Curriculum Manager in 2011 has allowed the vision of the students and advisory committee to begin to be realized. The College is posed to make great strides in reducing emissions in transportation after cross College collaboration on a transportation management plan that is being implemented in 2010-2011 and major retrofits of lighting, water and HVAC systems slated for consideration 2011-2012.
